Alhamdulillah,
When the last and final messenger to mankind, Muhammad saws, was sent he was sent with the Qur’an and the sunnah alongside it. We the Muslims who follow the sunnah try and do everything that we can by imitating the Messenger saws, Islam is afterall a complete way of life.
Supplicating to Allah is of the best things a Mulim can do, but there are certain supplications that should be used in certain situations to get the most out of that particular situation, as was the pracitce of rasulAllah saws, and those closest to him.
This list which you can print out and place in places as a reminder (Like on the inside of the front door, so as to remember to say it as you leave the house) that will come in very handy, as you and your family strive to memorize these supplications.
I have also inserted a latinised verion of the words, for those not yet able to read Arabic, the transliteration helps along the way, in sha Allah.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ Alhamdu lillaahil-lathee ahyaanaa ba’da maa amaatanaa wa ilayhin-nushoor. All praise is for Allah, who gave us life after having taken it from us, and unto Him is the Resurrection. (a) |
بِسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا Bismika Allahumma amootu wa-ahyaa. In Your name O Allah, I live and die. |
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ Bismillaah. In the name of Allah. |
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ فِي أَوَّلِهِ وَآخِرِهِ Bismillaahi fee aw-walihi wa aakhirihi. In the name of Allah, in its beginning and end. |
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْر حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَﻻﹶ قُوَّةٍ Alhamdu lillaahil-lathee at’amanee hathaa wa razaqa-neehi min ghayri hawlin minnee wa laa quwwatin. All praise is for Allah, who fed me this, and provided it for me without any might or power from myself. |
بِسْمِ اللَّه) اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبْثِ وَالْخَبَاﺋِﺚِ) Bismillaahi. Allahumma innee a’uuthubika minal khubthi wal khabaa’ith. (In the name of Allah).O Allah, I seek refuge in You from all evil, and evil doers. |
غُفْرَانَكَ Ghufraanaka. I ask You (Allah) for forgiveness |
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا Bismillaahi walajnaa, wa bismillaahi kharajnaa, wa a’laa rab-binaa tawak-kalnaa. In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we place our trust. (7) |
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَﻻﹶحَوْلَ وَﻻﹶقُوَّةَ إِﻻﱠ بِاللَّهِ Bismillaahi tawakkaltu ‘a-lal-laahi walaa hawla walaa quwwata illaa billaah. In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah. |
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ Bismillah In the name of Allah. |
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ ﻻﹶ إِلَٰهَ إِﻻﱠ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ ﻻﹶشَريكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illAllaahu wahdahu laa shareekalahu wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasooluhu. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. |
ﻻﹶبَأْسَ طَهُورٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ Laa ba’sa tahoorun inshaa’Allah. Never mind, may it (the sickness) be a purification, if Allah wills. |
ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ ، وابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ ، وَثَبَتَ اْﻷﹶجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ Thaha badh-dhama’u wabtallatil-‘urooqu, wa thabatal-ajru inshaa-Allaahu. The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills. |
When one of you sneezes he should say : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ Alhamdu lillaahi. All praise is for Allah. |

..and his brother or companion answers with… يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ Yar hamu kal-laahu May Allah have mercy upon you. |
اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا، وَبِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا ، وَبِكَ نَحْيَا وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ النُّشُورُ Allaahum-ma bika asbahnaa wa bika amsaynaa, wa bika nahyaa wa bika namootu, wa ilaykan-nushoor. O Allah, by Your leave we have reached the morning and by Your leave we have reached the evening, by Your leave we live and die and unto You is our resurrection. |
اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا ، وَبِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا ، وَبِكَ نَحْيَا وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ ، وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ Allaahum-ma bika amsaynaa, wa bika asbahnaa, wa bika nahyaa wa bika namootu, wa ilaykal maser. O Allah, by Your leave we have reached the evening and by Your leave we have reached the morning, by Your leave we live and die and unto You is our return. |
أَسْتَغْفِر اللَّهَ Astaghfirullah.33 times, subhanAllaah 33 times, Allahu Akbar 33 times I ask Allah for forgiveness (three times). (16) اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ اﻟﺴﳲﻼﹶمُ وَمِنْكَ اﻟﺴﳲﻼﹶمُ تَبَارَكْتَ يَاذَا الْجَلَﺍلِ وَاﻹﹺكْرَامِ Allaahum-ma anta as-salaamu wa minka as-salaamu tabaarakta yaa thal jalaali wal-ikraam. O Allah, You are As-Salaam (The One free from all defects and deficiencies) and from You is all peace, blessed are You, O Possessor of majesty and honour.
